Barcamp 6: Branding Your StartUp

Barcamp 6 in Portland was this past Saturday, put on by Stumptown Syndicate. What a great event. I’m so happy to be a part of it! I designed a logo for the event and spoke on Branding Your StartUp. See the slides from my talk here.

The logo had to incorporate the nationally branded flame shape icon and have some reference to Portland. You can see examples of other city’s Barcamp logos here which all have the same flame shape.

What is Barcamp? It’s an “unconference” that’s designed and put on by the attendees. People can prepare talks to give or questions to lead a group discussion. Sessions are mostly about tech but also include design, GTD and some random yet interesting stuff like lock-picking.

Session topics are briefly announced with a mic by each organizer, then they write the name of the session on a huge sticky-note and place it on a board designating a time and place for that talk. Within 30 minutes, the entire agenda for the day has been set, and people go off to whatever session they’re first interested in.
